An explanation:
This piece shows the burden popularity causes: worrying about others’ opinions, gossip, goings-on and rivals who may claim that sought-after position in the social hierarchy.

This is my first time participating in Illustration Friday! I’m really excited and hope to make it a regular practice of mine. After some feedback I realized I should put the explanation with the piece. I’ll get the hang of this yet!

    1. Hi Hedwig,

      Thanks for commenting!

It’s to show the burden popularity causes: worrying about others’ opinions, gossip, goings-on and rivals who may claim that sought-after position in the social hierarchy.

  1. Very interesting Kelly. When I first looked at this piece, I wasn’t sure what it represented. Then I read your comments and it totally makes sense. I felt a great weight upon the person in the front. Reminds me of my youth. It’s nice to know that none of that matters in later life! :o) Nice piece Kelly!

    1. Thanks, Evie! It’s quite a relief that that pressure does not exist in later life; we’d all be miserable! I was lucky to not suffer too badly from it in my youth.
