Tissue, Posterior Neck

The specimen is received in formalin, labelled with the patient’s name, medical record number, and “1 posterior neck mass”. Present is a 4.3 x 4.0 x 2.3 cm flattened piece of coarsely lobulated yellow-tan to pink tissue. The external surface is inked black. The cut surface reveals a dominant, 2.5 cm in greatest dimension homogeneous  yellow nodule composed of homogeneous glistening yellow adipose tissue. No areas of hemorrhage, calcification, or necrosis are seen, Representative sections are submitted.
