Holiday Commission

A friend of mine commissioned a painting for her husband as a Christmas gift and I was happy to oblige! I’m really happy with how it turned out, but, more importantly: so are they! I’m honored they like my art enough to have it hanging in their home.

The painting is a depiction of the Swahili proverb, “The day a monkey is destined to die, all the branches will be slippery.”

It’s a big painting: approximately 22 by 24 inches! Luckily, I had a framed piece that became a sacrificial lamb so I didn’t have to brave the stores to acquire a new frame for this one. I’ll wait until January to undertake that task.

      1. Gigi, it was a mad dash to the finish! I finished painting the piece the morning it’s owner came to pick it up. We need to get together now that things have settled down a bit.
